Introduction
I’m Huajing Lu, an iOS engineer focused on building thoughtful experiences across Apple platforms. I work primarily with Swift, SwiftUI, UIKit, and AppKit, with recent projects involving CarPlay, media playback, rich-text input, generative media, and automated testing.
I enjoy problems where product behavior and platform constraints meet: deciding what an app should own, creating clear boundaries around system frameworks, and turning unfamiliar APIs into experiences that are understandable, testable, and resilient.

Current Focus
My recent work explores:
- System-owned experiences such as CarPlay
- Shared state and playback architecture across multiple UI scenes
- Expressive text systems that preserve Genmoji and other rich content
- Privacy-aware notification ranking and intelligent mail triage
- Testable integrations with newer Apple frameworks
I also write detailed technical case studies about the decisions, tradeoffs, and debugging work behind each project. I want the finished interface to be clear, but I am equally interested in the architecture underneath it.
How I Work
I prefer small, explicit models over framework-driven business logic. I use prototypes to make uncertain behavior observable, then move important decisions into code that can be tested without depending on a particular screen or device.
This site is my working notebook: a place to document what I build, what failed, and what I would improve before turning an experiment into a production application.
